Semester 1 Reflection

I'd like to think that my work from the past quarter was quality work. During the first semester it was my goal to meet all the objectives given on the blog. I would always succeed in turning my work in on time and not only sticking to one idea but brainstorming, whether it was with friends or classmates.
When it came down to effort, I gave it all I got. Although I can't lie that sometimes I did forget about some assignments and shot last minute, that doesn't necessarily mean that I wasn't giving it my best. Sometimes I did find myself shooting more than expected, and when the assignment is first given I never tried to go the easy way out. Referring to the last minute thing, I didn't rush it as some might expect. I always thought through how I wanted my images to look and where I might be able to shoot said image. If a shot was hard to get, I didn't give up. I was persistent to meet my goals and complete a good final product.
Last semester I didn't find myself having trouble with getting to class on time. When it came to working through the period or block I did finish my projects sometimes early, just because of my planning in advance or willingness to shoot right away. This class did give me time to work independently but I believe that if I wanted to go into the profession of photography it would be more logical to socialize and bounce ideas back and forth. When I finished using my time productively I would usually help out other classmates.
I think my own style has yet to develop. Its been a few months but I don't really see anything that would signify that I was the photographer behind the images. I think what I can improve on is giving myself some more time so the images and index print I come out with meet the set expectations of the assignment. I think I'm better at compositing because it is not a major struggle of mine. Maybe working on recoloring and retouching is something I should try to do better on.
In the second semester I'm definitely going to try to focus more instead of stressing out about assignments and other classes. I found myself getting too worked up about things that weren't such big deals and I want to focus on taking my time, etc.

Suggesting An Assignment

Something I've been really intrigued by lately is the ocean. I would love to do a project based on aquariums, tropical fish, coral reefs, etc. It could even be a compositing project, or something like "turn yourself into a mermaid" like the October assignment I did where I zombifyed myself.
